First value add training ever, for the cocoa producers in Makira Ulawa Province.
We have had value add trainings for the Virgin Coconut Oil producers in the past, but this is the first ever training contacted for the Cocoa producers.
In partnership with World Vision Solomon Islands, we are committed to buying dried Cocoa beans from 11 Cocoa producers, that the Market Linkage Phase II Project of World Vision Solomon Islands is working with.
1. Quality control of cocoa beans: From the farm(plantation) to the finish product.
2. Value adding: Different recipes (chocolate drink and tea etc.)
Most Cacao Producers and Farmers produce cacao beans for the bulk export market and haven’t produce cacao beans for local consumption. By having them trained to eat their own cacao beans, they can care and look after the quality aspects of producing good cacao beans.
The training was conducted in Kokana Village and there are 3 ref from 11 community producers attended the training. After the training they can return and train others in their communities. A great turn out and we look forward for more trainings like this in the future.
Our Vision is improving Village livelihoods and bye doing this, we are contributing to improving Village livelihood.
Special thank you to Strongim Bisnis for sponsoring the trip & World Vision for connecting us to your Farmers.
