Solomon Airlines supporting locally made drinking chocolate
Thanks to the recently formed partnership with Solomon Airlines, we are excited to share that our new KOSI Drinking Chocolate is now available as part of the hot beverage selection on International and Dash 8 flights. We are very proud that our locally sourced cocoa is used in the making of this deliciously rich chocolate drink. The cocoa comes from Makira, Malaita and Guadalcanal, then manufactured and packaged right here in Solomon Islands in our brand-new Honiara factory. Our partnership with SolomonAirlines means that visitors can now get a taste of Solomon Islands before they even land on our shores!
We are very grateful for the support of Solomon Airlines and for their commitment to encourage the promotion of local products and businesses. This commitment is hugely encouraging as the news filters down to local communities who grow, tend and pick the cocoa pods on their family farms. By purchasing Solomon grown and manufactured products our village communities are reaping a greater share of the benefits. Farmers are now able to sell their beans to local dryers for an increased return which again means that the economy of local communities are enhanced. After drying in solar driers, these high quality beans are transported to Honiara and made into cocoa powder and cocoa butter. Raw sugar is added to the cocoa powder to make the drinking chocolate. We suggest that you try the drink first, straight after adding water. Some people like a little extra sugar and milk, which can be added depending on your taste preference. Or, if it’s a bit stronger than you prefer, share the pack with a friend.
Thanks Solomon Airlines for helping make our locally grown product soar!
